The armed assailants have abducted a staggering number of individuals in separate incidents in Kaduna and Borno states.

In the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, terrorists launched a brazen attack on the Kajuru-Station community, resulting in the abduction of 87 people. Harisu Dari, a member of the Kajuru-Station Youths, recounted the harrowing incident, noting that the terrorists not only abducted the locals but also ransacked shops, stealing food items and valuables. The attack occurred late in the evening, around 10 p.m., leaving the villagers in a state of shock and fear.

This assault follows closely on the heels of another abduction incident, where 15 women and a man were taken in the Dogon-Noma community, also within the Kajuru Local Government. These incidents have contributed to a growing sense of unease and tension in Kajuru and Chikun LGs, which have become kidnapping hotspots in recent weeks.

Harisu Dari highlighted the lack of security presence and the absence of communication with the abducted individuals, underscoring the urgent need for the government to reassess its strategies in combating these terrorists. The traumatized villagers are calling for immediate action and assistance.

Meanwhile, in Borno State, a suicide bomber met his own demise in a failed attempt to detonate an explosive device at the Marvelous Restaurant in Biu town. Witnesses reported that the bomber, wearing an explosive vest, attempted to enter the restaurant but prematurely triggered the explosive, resulting in his own death. An undisclosed number of individuals sustained injuries in the incident.

While the 7 Division Nigerian Army spokesman, Lt Col Ahemusu Jingina, could not be reached for immediate confirmation, reliable security sources have verified the bomber’s death. The area has been thoroughly scanned, and security agencies remain on high alert to prevent further security breaches.

This failed bombing attempt occurred just hours after Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, distributed food palliatives to vulnerable residents in Biu, aiming to alleviate their hardships.

ASP Kenneth Daso, the Borno Police Command spokesman, confirmed the incident, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and security measures to safeguard communities from such attacks.
