Nigeria’s 10th House of Representatives is spearheading a strategic push to harness the vast opportunities in agriculture and information technology (IT) as drivers of economic growth and sustainability.
Speaking on the initiative, the House Speaker emphasized the immense potential in empowering the country’s youth and women – two of the most vital demographic groups – to become key players in these sectors.
“By focusing on developing and implementing bankable business proposals, we can empower our youth and women to become key players in these sectors,” the Speaker said.
The 10th House has pledged to work closely with the executive branch to launch public work programs targeting young people, particularly in infrastructure development and agriculture.
“I urge the African Development Bank to continue its collaboration with the Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa,” the Speaker added, underscoring the need for multi-stakeholder partnerships to achieve the desired impact.
Experts believe that strategic investments in modernizing agriculture and harnessing the transformative power of IT can unlock exponential economic growth and create sustainable livelihoods for Nigeria’s burgeoning youth population.
The House’s commitment to nurturing youth-led enterprises in these sectors is expected to catalyze a new era of economic empowerment and social inclusion, positioning the country for long-term prosperity.
