In a devastating incident that has shaken the city of Ibadan, a trailer collision has claimed the lives of at least 25 people along the Ojoo-Iwo Road near the Agbowo/Ajao area.
According to reports from Oyo Affairs, the accident occurred when a trailer carrying roofing sheets collided with an 18-seater Hummer bus, a Micra taxi, and a Honda CR-V car. The impact of the crash was catastrophic, resulting in multiple fatalities.
Rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the scene, and several passengers were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. However, the sheer scale of the tragedy has left the local community in a state of shock and grief.
“It’s an utterly devastating incident,” said a witness who requested anonymity. “The scene was chaotic, with debris and mangled vehicles scattered across the road. My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives.”
The Ojoo-Iwo Road, which is a major thoroughfare in Ibadan, has remained congested as authorities work to clear the wreckage and investigate the cause of the accident. Motorists have been advised to exercise caution and consider alternative routes to avoid further delays.

The loss of life has underscored the importance of road safety and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations. As the community mourns the victims, there is a renewed call for comprehensive infrastructure improvements and increased public awareness to enhance road safety across Oyo State.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this horrific accident,” the commissioner added. “We will ensure that they receive the support and assistance they need during this difficult time.”
