The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited is facing technical issues on its website due to a massive influx of job applications following the company’s recent announcement of a major recruitment drive.
Just hours after the NNPC announced plans to hire new workers to fill various positions across its departments, the overwhelming response from job seekers has put a significant strain on the company’s online platform.
In a statement posted on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, the NNPC confirmed that the career page on its website is currently experiencing slow load times and other technical glitches due to the “unprecedented traffic” from applicants.
“Our technicians are working diligently to rectify the problem as quickly as possible,” the company said, assuring that the application process deadline of August 20, 2024, remains unchanged.
The NNPC’s recruitment exercise is expected to be one of the largest since the company’s transformation into a limited liability company in 2022. The surge in job applications reflects the high level of interest and competition for positions at the state-owned oil and gas firm.
While the technical issues are causing inconvenience for some applicants, the NNPC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a smooth and fair recruitment process. The company has urged job seekers to be patient and persistent in their efforts to apply for the available positions.
