In a disturbing turn of events, security forces in Anambra State have apprehended a herbalist in possession of multiple human bones.
The suspect, identified as Ezekiel, was taken into custody over the weekend in the town of Neni, located in Anaocha Local Government Area.
According to reports, the arrest came after local whistleblowers alerted authorities to suspicious activities at Ezekiel’s residence. When police and vigilantes conducted a raid, they uncovered a total of 11 human bones of various origins.
During questioning, the suspect admitted that the bones were indeed human remains. However, he claimed the bones were brought to him by a relative from a region in neighboring Ebonyi State where ongoing communal clashes have been taking place.
Ezekiel further revealed that he utilized these human bones to create “high-quality charms” that he would then sell to clients. This grisly discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting authorities to issue a stern warning.
“We urge residents to be vigilant about who they rent to or accommodate, and to report any suspicious activities immediately,” said a member of the security team involved in the arrest. “Security is everyone’s responsibility.”
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation. Officials have vowed to get to the bottom of this disturbing incident and bring any accomplices to justice.
