This unexpected departure has left the nation in a state of political and economic uncertainty.
The protests, which began on July 1, were initially sparked by demands for government job quota reforms but quickly escalated into a widespread movement calling for Hasina’s resignation and democratic reforms. The demonstrations, led predominantly by the country’s youth, saw violent clashes with security forces, resulting in over 300 deaths and numerous injuries. As tensions peaked, protesters defied a nationwide curfew and marched towards the Prime Minister’s residence. Faced with an ultimatum from the security forces, Hasina had no choice but to step down and flee. The army chief, General Waker-uz-Zaman, announced the formation of an interim government, pledging to restore order and oversee a transition
