Troops of Operation Lake Sanity III, part of Operation Hadin Kai, have made a startling discovery within the heart of Maisani, Timbuktu Triangle, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Reports confirm that an underground bread production facility belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists was uncovered by the combined efforts of the 199 Special Forces Battalion, Hybrid Forces, and Civilian JTF (Joint Task Force).
According to reliable intelligence sources cited by renowned security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, the unexpected find occurred during an exploitation mission on Sunday. The troops, engaged in a week-long clearance operation to eradicate the terrorists from their stronghold in the notorious Timbuktu Triangle, stumbled upon the bread factory, which had been concealed within the terrorists’ hideout.
Makama further revealed that the factory was promptly destroyed, and valuable items were seized as evidence. Among the recovered items were two Lister generating plants, one baking machine, and various baking materials. The successful operation marks a significant blow to the extremist groups operating in the region.
The Timbuktu Triangle, encompassing areas such as Buk 1, 2, and 3, Talala, Ajigin, Dusula, Abulam, and Gorgi, has long been plagued by these terrorist organizations. They have been responsible for a series of attacks, ambushes, and incidents involving improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and landmines. The Damboa roads, Damaturu-Maiduguri MSR (Main Supply Route), and other areas, including Askira, Buratai, and Buni Yadi, have been frequent targets of their destructive activities. Additionally, the terrorists were found to have caused significant damage to the high-tension transmission line connecting Borno and Yobe State.
Despite the challenging terrain characterized by heavily fortified camps hidden amidst dense foliage and the presence of numerous IEDs, the troops displayed unwavering determination and maintained a high level of combat efficiency throughout the operation.
