The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, announced on Thursday that troops have intensified operations across various regions of Nigeria, resulting in the neutralization of several terrorists and the rescue of abducted Nigerians.

Speaking at the third-quarter media chat in Makurdi, Benue State, and represented by Major General Hilary Nzan, the Commander of the 4 Special Force Command, Lagbaja highlighted the significant successes of the military’s tailored strategies against unique security threats in different areas.

He noted, “The Nigerian Army has intensified operations with significant successes across multiple theatres, including the neutralization of terrorists and their leaders, and the restoration of socio-economic activities in affected communities. This has facilitated the return of internally displaced persons to their homes.”

Lagbaja also emphasized the military’s role in boosting crude oil production and enhancing food security through special patrols that support farmers.

In response to recent disasters, both man-made and natural, the Army has activated its emergency response capabilities, as illustrated by its efforts during the recent floods in Maiduguri.

Acknowledging the media’s vital role in connecting the military with the public, Lagbaja stressed the need for open dialogue and mutual respect to foster effective collaboration. He urged media practitioners to uphold responsibility, accuracy, and fairness in their reporting, particularly regarding military activities.

“It is crucial to avoid spreading misinformation that could undermine national unity and security,” he added, urging journalists to verify information before dissemination to build public confidence in the military’s operations.
