Over 60,000 youths under the Arewa Integrity Group for Good Governance in the North Central region have decided not to participate in the nationwide protest planned for August 1st.

The group’s leader, Joseph Maiwada, said they made this decision to give the Bola Tinubu administration more time to implement people-oriented programs and to sustain peace in the region and country.

Maiwada cited appeals made by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, who is from the North Central region, as another reason for withdrawing from the protest.

The group has mobilized its 60,000 members to back down from the protest, and they are urging other organizers to also shelve their plans, as protests in the past have had negative effects on citizens’ livelihoods.

Instead, the group is advising the youths to support the federal government’s efforts to address the socio-economic challenges facing the country.

A major youth group from the North Central region has decided not to participate in the nationwide protest, citing the government’s commitments and the need to maintain peace and unity in the country.
