Lagos, Nigeria – The Nigeria Police Force has summoned popular Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh to its headquarters to assist with an investigation into allegations of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, forgery, and other charges.
According to a letter issued by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit, which is handling the case, Dikeh’s name has come up prominently in the ongoing investigation. The letter, dated August 5th, requested that the actress attend an interview on August 7th to provide more information on the allegations.
“This office is investigating a case of criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion reported to the Inspector-General of Police, in which your name and others feature prominently,” the letter stated.
When contacted, the Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that Dikeh had been invited following a petition filed against her. Adejobi added that the actress had been released after the interview, but the investigation is still ongoing.
“She was only invited to respond to a petition filed against her, and she has since left the unit, while the investigation continues,” Adejobi said.
The summons of the popular Nollywood star has raised concerns within the entertainment industry, with many calling for a fair and transparent investigation. Observers will be closely monitoring the developments in this case and the potential implications for Nigeria’s vibrant film industry.
