In a recent interview on the radio program “1 Football Club” hosted by Luca Cerchione on 1 Station Radio, Albanian agent Serxhio Mezi made an intriguing revelation about the future of Nigerian footballer Victor Osimhen. Mezi disclosed that Osimhen is set to join the reigning French champions, Paris Saint-Germain, despite attracting interest from Premier League clubs Chelsea and Arsenal.

Despite signing a contract extension with Napoli in December, which would have kept him at the Diego Maradona Stadium until 2026, Osimhen has made the decision to depart the Italian club at the conclusion of the current season. The talented striker, who was crowned the African Footballer of the Year, has decided it’s time to move on.

Chelsea has been actively seeking a top-tier center forward to address their goal-scoring woes, and Osimhen has emerged as a primary target. However, complying with Financial Fair Play Regulations (FFP) could pose a significant obstacle for Chelsea, as they would likely need to offload some key players to finance the transfer fee for the Napoli number 9.

Arsenal, also in pursuit of a prolific goal-scorer, has been linked with Osimhen. However, the Nigerian’s potential move to the Emirates Stadium faces a major hurdle in the form of a release clause worth €130 million in his contract with Napoli.

Paris Saint-Germain, aware of Osimhen’s talents, has expressed a keen interest in securing his services as a successor to Kylian Mbappé, who is nearing the end of his contract and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Serxhio Mezi, quoted by Casa Napoli, stated, “The Nigerian will leave, he will join Paris Saint-Germain. I know that Napoli are interested in Albion Rrahmani, who plays in Albania. Furthermore, contacts have been made regarding Broja. However, much will depend on the player’s preference, as he aims to join a top-tier club. Broja has been approached by Napoli’s director.”

Osimhen played a vital role in Napoli’s triumph in the Serie A during the 2022-2023 season, their first league title in 33 years. Throughout the campaign, he contributed an impressive tally of 26 goals and 5 assists in 32 appearances for the team.
