Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu expressed his administration’s strong commitment to making Nigeria self-sufficient in food production and transforming the nation into a net exporter of agricultural products through the implementation of “aggressive mechanisation.”

Speaking to a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement, led by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu assured his support in providing ease and comfort to the 2024 Hajj pilgrims.

In a statement titled “President Tinubu: We are determined to achieve food sufficiency for Nigeria,” signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu emphasized the significance of spiritual endeavors in nation-building and pledged to support religious activities. He outlined plans to enhance agricultural productivity through a range of initiatives, including the expansion of farmlands, the provision of low-interest loans to farmers, and substantial investments in irrigation infrastructure.

“We are bringing thousands of tractors to Nigeria to greatly expand food production through aggressive mechanisation. It is essential for us to be productive as a people, following the Sunnah and the principles I grew up understanding,” President Tinubu stated, highlighting the importance of productivity and efficiency in achieving food sufficiency. He also stressed the need for collaboration between political and spiritual leaders to advance national interests and foster unity among the citizens.

President Tinubu further expressed his dedication to equipping hospitals with modern equipment, providing comprehensive healthcare professional training, and ensuring social welfare for every Nigerian citizen, including comprehensive health insurance coverage.

The Khalifa of Tijaniyya, Sheikh Mahe Niass, speaking on behalf of the delegation, commended President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s peace, progress, and stability. He conveyed the fervent support and prayers of the members of the Global Tijaniyya Movement to the Nigerian leader.

During the visit, the delegation offered prayers for the nation’s progress, unity, and prosperity, and sought Almighty Allah’s blessings for President Tinubu, praying for wisdom, strength, and success in his leadership.
