The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) is poised to establish a collaborative partnership with the Defence Space Administration (DSA) to foster innovative solutions for national development.
During a visit to the DSA Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, NASRDA Director General Dr. Matthew Adepoju reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to collaborating with various stakeholders in Nigeria’s space sector.
In a statement from NASRDA’s Director of Media and Corporate Communications, Dr. Felix Ale, Adepoju highlighted the critical role of space technology in contemporary society.
“NASRDA is committed to partnering with relevant sectors to enhance and regulate Nigeria’s space industry for the nation’s growth and advancement,” he stated.
The partnership will concentrate on key areas, including data sharing, data center integration, and the development of information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure.
Adepoju noted that these initiatives are part of NASRDA’s strategic plan to promote the growth of space technology across Africa. “In our efforts to advance space technology in Africa, NASRDA will collaborate with the Defence Space Administration on data sharing, data center integration, and secure data storage for mutual benefit,” he explained.
Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Oluwatoyin, Chief of the Defence Space Administration, commended NASRDA for its ongoing support. He emphasized the need for strong collaborative relationships between the two agencies to leverage space technology for the benefit of all Nigerians.
“We must cultivate robust partnerships to fully harness the advantages of space technology for the betterment of Nigerians,” he stated.
This collaboration comes as both agencies prepare to celebrate Nigeria’s 25 years in space, an event that will include key players in the space sector, such as NIGCOMSAT Limited.
“With this partnership, NASRDA and DSA aim not only to elevate Nigeria’s position in the global space community but also to utilize space technology to tackle local challenges, ultimately contributing to the nation’s development agenda,” he added.
