Comedian and actor Adebowale Adedayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, has revealed the reasoning behind his claim that Afrobeat music star Wizkid disrespected Mavin Records boss Michael Ajereh, also known as Don Jazzy, by referring to him as an ‘influencer’.

During a live show on Wazobia TV in Lagos on Wednesday, Mr Macaroni explained his stance on Wizkid’s comment. While acknowledging that Don Jazzy is indeed an influencer and possibly the most significant entertainment influencer in Africa, he expressed that the manner in which Wizkid referred to him was disrespectful.

Mr Macaroni emphasized that Don Jazzy is not just an ordinary influencer, but a figure who has had a tremendous impact on the music industry. He highlighted Don Jazzy’s influence when he launched artists such as Reekado Banks, Tiwa Savage, Korede Bello, Di’ja, and others under the Mavin Records label.

He stated, “Don Jazzy is an influencer and perhaps the biggest entertainment influencer we have in Africa. He is such a massive influencer in the entertainment industry, from music to film. His impact speaks volumes. So, while Wizkid’s comments about Don Jazzy were a bit disrespectful in context, Don Jazzy’s influence is undeniable.”

Mr Macaroni further expressed that Don Jazzy’s success and contributions to the music industry are significant, and any discussion about shaping the industry would be incomplete without mentioning him. He regarded Don Jazzy as a champion and a great influence whose impact on the industry cannot be denied.

“Don Jazzy is a champion. Of course, he’s an influencer; he’s a great influencer. He doesn’t do it just for music; he does it for content and films. All you need is just to add Don Jazzy as a collaborator. You don’t even need to have a million followers. If he loves what you have done, he will just accept your request, and the millions of followers that he has can see the content,” Mr Macaroni added.

However, he noted that the way Wizkid worded his comment about Don Jazzy as an ‘influencer’ was what many found disrespectful.

Earlier, Wizkid faced criticism from other celebrities for mocking Davido and Don Jazzy in a series of tweets. The Grammy award-winning singer’s remarks sparked a buzz on social media. Wizkid referred to Don Jazzy as an ‘influencer’ and made fun of Davido’s leaked viral video where he was seen on his knees, crying, and pleading with a female associate.

Among the celebrities who condemned Wizkid’s actions were popular nightlife king Cubana Chief Priest.
