Knarik Gambaryan, mother of Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive currently detained in Nigeria, has made a heartfelt appeal to the Nigerian government, insisting her son is innocent of the charges against him.

In a report on Friday, Knarik expressed her conviction that her son has no knowledge of the allegations levelled against him. She urgently pleaded for Tigran’s release, even offering to exchange her own freedom for his. “He’s innocent, that’s all. But I’m asking, and I’m begging everyone who can help my son: please bring him home. That’s all we need,” she stated.

Knarik continued, “Take me, exchange me for my son; just let him go home! I don’t care what happens to me, just let my son go home!”

Tigran Gambaryan, a U.S. citizen and Binance’s Chief of Financial Crimes Compliance, was arrested in February 2024, along with another executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, upon their arrival in Nigeria. Their detention is part of an investigation that allegedly links Binance to money laundering and terrorism financing.

While Anjarwalla fled to Kenya and has not been extradited, Gambaryan remains in custody, facing trial alongside his company on money laundering charges. He is currently held at Kuje Correctional Centre.

Concerns regarding Tigran’s health have been voiced by both his family and employer. However, the Nigerian Correctional Service has reported that he is in good health following medical evaluations.
