NLNG, the Nigeria LNG Limited, has confirmed that their LNG plant remains operational despite ongoing planned maintenance. This commitment to the safe and uninterrupted functioning of the plant highlights the significance of routine turnaround maintenance.
NLNG’s plant is one of the largest and top-performing LNG plants globally.
The plant has successfully transitioned from a construction project to a stable production operation, with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Regular maintenance is conducted to ensure asset integrity and reliability, and efforts are made to debottleneck the plant and maximize production.
NLNG has also implemented a structured program of asset rejuvenation to extend the plant’s life beyond its design life.
Health, safety, security, and environmental considerations are prioritized, with a continuous focus on improving the safe and sustainable utilization of assets.
NLNG’s plant initially consisted of two trains (Trains 1 and 2) and has since expanded to include six operational trains.
The current production capacity of the entire complex is 22 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG and 5 mtpa of natural gas liquids (NGLs).
NLNG has plans to further expand with the construction of Train 7, which will increase the total production capacity to 30 mtpa of LNG.
The Final Investment Decision (FID) for Train 7 was taken in December 2019, and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Contracts were awarded in May 2020.
