IG Approves Promotion of Over 10,000 Deserving Officers in the Nigeria Police Force

The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has granted approval for the promotion of a total of 10,581 deserving junior officers within the Inspectorate cadre, including the rank and file.

This significant announcement was made by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement issued on Friday.

Highlighting the development, Adejobi stated, “Under the directive of Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, 10,581 deserving junior officers within the inspectorate cadre and rank and file have been authorized for promotion. To ensure the prompt execution of this directive, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the Department of Finance and Administration, in collaboration with the Commissioner of Police (Welfare), will coordinate the necessary efforts to commence the promotion process without delay.”

The breakdown of promotions includes 9,831 police constables who will be promoted to the rank of corporal, 81 corporals who will advance to the rank of sergeant, and 669 officers slated to progress from the rank of sergeants to inspectors.

Emphasizing the commitment of the force leadership to promoting meritocracy and career advancement, the Inspector General highlighted the vital role of timely promotions in boosting the morale of officers and strengthening the overall effectiveness of the force. He affirmed that the promotion process aligns with the ongoing manpower development initiatives of the Nigeria Police Force and assured that promotions within the force will be based solely on merit.

The Nigeria Police Force extends its heartfelt congratulations to all officers who are slated for promotion and urges them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation.
