Amaka Patience Sunnberger, a Canada-based Nigerian woman, has dismissed fears of arrest or deportation following calls from the Nigerian House of Representatives for her prosecution for inciting violence against Yoruba and Benin communities.
In a viral video that gained traction on X.com on Thursday, Sunnberger, a self-identified Canadian citizen, expressed confidence in her legal protections. “Somebody just sent me a message saying they want to arrest me and deport me. With my passport? I’m a Canadian child,” she stated defiantly. “Look at me now, I’m at home; why would I lie?”
Her remarks come in response to a video that surfaced earlier this week, in which she made threatening comments about Yoruba and Benin individuals during a virtual meeting on TikTok. Sunnberger, who claims to reside in Ontario, Canada, allegedly vowed to harm members of these communities, sparking widespread outrage.
In light of her statements, the Nigerian House of Representatives has formally written to the Canadian government, urging an investigation into Sunnberger’s comments for potential violations of international and Canadian law.
