Kano, Nigeria – In a tragic turn of events, the Kano State Police Command has made an arrest in connection with the brutal killing of Bello Adam, a former colleague at the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
The suspect, identified as Sadiq Zubairu, allegedly carried out the heinous act after failing to fulfill his promise of securing a job for the victim, despite receiving a substantial sum of N3 million.
According to eyewitnesses and a family source, who reached out to security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, alias @ZagazOlaMakama on Twitter, a different version of events emerged. The source revealed that Sadiq Jibrin, also known as @sadiqsolar on social media, had deceived Bello Bukar Adam by falsely offering assistance in securing employment at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). As weeks went by without any job offer or the return of the borrowed money, tensions escalated, ultimately leading to the horrifying incident.
Reports indicate that Sadiq invited Bello to his residence, where he proceeded to bind him and unleash a brutal assault with sticks and sharp objects, causing fatal injuries. The victim’s lifeless body was discovered near Bechi Village in Kumbotso Local Government Area, following a tip-off received by the police. Acting swiftly on the information, law enforcement authorities apprehended Sadiq Zubairu at his residence the next day, recovering the stolen Toyota Corolla vehicle and his mobile phone.
Haruna Abdullahi, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and provided additional details. He stated, “During preliminary investigations, the suspect confessed to conspiring with two accomplices in luring the victim to his house. He admitted to subjecting Bello to a violent assault until he became motionless. Subsequently, he disposed of the body and absconded with the victim’s vehicle and belongings. The motive behind this regrettable incident stemmed from the suspect’s inability to repay the victim’s substantial loan, which he obtained under false pretenses.”
The Kano State Police Command expressed its commitment to ensuring justice for the victim and his family. The suspect, Sadiq Zubairu, will face charges related to murder, conspiracy, and theft. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the pursuit of truth and justice.
