Annabelle Fasuba, following in the footsteps of her renowned father, Olusoji Fasuba, has made a remarkable impact by breaking two UK records in the U-15 Girls 100m and 200m categories within a span of one week.

During last Sunday’s Devon County AA Track and Field Championships held at Exeter Arena, the 13-year-old prodigy showcased her exceptional talent. Annabelle narrowly missed her personal best, clocking in at 12.11 seconds, securing a well-deserved victory in the 100m event. In the 200m race, she left the competition in her wake, achieving a remarkable personal best time of 25.02 seconds. This outstanding performance not only set a new championship record but also stood as the fastest time recorded across all age groups for the entire event.

The runners-up in the 100m race were Zola Joanna Baptiste and Sophia Ingham, finishing with times of 13.05 seconds, respectively. Similarly, Isla Perry and Madeleine Davis-Hull secured second and third place in the 200m race, clocking in at 26.34 seconds and 27.07 seconds, respectively.

Annabelle’s athletic prowess is undoubtedly a testament to her remarkable lineage. Her father, a former African record holder in the 100m with a time of 9.85 seconds, had his record surpassed by South African athlete Akani Simbine in July 2021. Additionally, her mother, Ngozi Nwokocha, excelled as a 400m runner.

While her father pursued a career in the Royal Navy after applying through the Royal Navy Careers Office in Oxford back in April 2011, he continued to nurture his passion for athletics, competing as a hobbyist and representing the Royal Navy.

Annabelle Fasuba’s extraordinary achievements on the track indicate that she is poised to carry forward the illustrious Fasuba legacy, leaving an indelible mark in the world of sprinting.
