This week, Everton is anticipated to receive the outcome of their appeal against a 10-point penalty. However, the players remain concentrated on their on-field performance, aiming to distance themselves from the relegation zone in the Premier League, according to defender James Tarkowski. In November, Everton was penalized due to financial irregularities during the 2020-21 season, prompting the club to file an appeal in December.

Despite the setback, Everton managed to secure four consecutive victories following the points deduction. Nevertheless, a subsequent eight-game winless streak has seen them being pulled back into the relegation battle.

When questioned about whether the potential restoration of the deducted points was being discussed within the team’s dressing room, James Tarkowski, speaking to Sky Sports after Everton’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday, responded as follows “I don’t think we try and pre-empt it too much.

“No one really knows what’s going to happen as we cant be saying we’re going to get some points back, just focusing on points we’ve got at the moment and if we do get some points back, time will tell…”

Following Everton’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, their hard-earned point lifted them out of the bottom three in the Premier League table. However, this escape from the relegation zone was only achieved by virtue of a superior goal difference. Defender James Tarkowski expressed that if the club were to have the 10 points restored through a successful appeal, it would provide a sense of relief and allow them to approach their remaining matches with a greater sense of ease.

“It’s a difficult run but if you put them 10 points we’ve been taken off back on board we’d be in a healthier position and we just focus on the next game and hopefully a win is on the way,” he added.

On Saturday, Everton will embark on a journey to face Brighton & Hove Albion. The upcoming match presents an opportunity for Everton to secure vital points as they strive to improve their position in the Premier League standings. The team will be eager to showcase their abilities and claim a positive result against their opponents at the Brighton & Hove Albion stadium.
