Nigeria’s D’Tigress Secures Olympic Qualification for Women’s Basketball at Paris 2024.
Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has successfully qualified for the women’s basketball event at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Despite a 100-46 loss to the USA in their second game at the Olympic qualifying tournament held in Antwerp, Belgium, D’Tigress managed to secure one of the coveted tickets for the Games.
Their qualification was assured following Senegal’s 97-66 defeat to Belgium, which eliminated them from contention. Belgium and Nigeria have now both earned their spots at the Olympics, while the USA had already qualified as the reigning world champions.
D’Tigress significantly boosted their qualification prospects by clinching a victory over Senegal in their opening game of the qualifying tournament. This marks their third appearance at the Olympics, having previously competed in Athens 2004 and Tokyo 2020.
