According to reports in Italy, Paul Pogba has received a four-year ban subsequent to his unsuccessful drug test. The 30-year-old athlete was placed under provisional suspension in September 2023 when his initial sample indicated the presence of DHEA, a substance that can elevate testosterone levels and enhance athletes’ endurance.
In October 2023, the confirmation of his failed drug test came after the analysis of his B sample yielded a positive outcome.
Following Juventus’ match against Udinese last August, the ex-Manchester United player was chosen for random testing.
According to the report, “the prosecution did not believe the defence’s version of accidental intake of the substance. Key point for Pogba’s lawyers, who had rejected the plea deal.”
This development is speculated to potentially mark the conclusion of Paul Pogba’s remarkable career, considering that the Frenchman will be turning 31 next month.
Pogba rejoined Juventus in the summer of 2022, opting to return following a rather disappointing second stint at Manchester United. He had initially made a high-profile transfer back to Old Trafford for a fee of £89 million in August 2016.
During his time at Manchester United, Pogba made a total of 226 appearances across various competitions, netting 39 goals. His contributions played a part in his former team’s victories in the Carabao Cup and Europa League.
