The Nigeria Customs Service, former champions, will take on the defending champions, Kada Emeralds, in the women’s category of the ongoing 2024 National Beach Volleyball Tour today.
The tour is being held at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria in Ibadan, Oyo State. Both teams have shown impressive form, remaining unbeaten without dropping a set throughout the tournament.
DCP Stephen Hasso (RTD), Chairman of the Control Committee for the Nigeria Beach Volleyball Tour, shared insights with journalists about the event. He noted that the tour features 24 teams, comprising 11 men in the Open Tour, 6 men in the Star Tour, and 7 women in the Star Tour.
Hasso emphasized that the purpose of the beach volleyball tour is to prepare players for major international competitions. He highlighted that three women participating have previously competed in Olympic qualifiers, while several men have participated in various African Championships.
“I am pleased with the level of play exhibited by the beach volleyball players this year,” Hasso remarked. “Volleyball is growing in Nigeria, with younger players improving and older players showcasing their experience. We aim to keep the sport thriving and ensure that players remain active through regular tournaments to build a strong representation in future international events.”
