Barcelona Makes Official Announcement: Oshoala Completes Transfer to NWSL Club Bay FC

Barcelona has officially announced that Nigerian footballer Asisat Oshoala will be transferring to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Bay FC, following the expiration of her contract on June 30, 2024. Barcelona confirmed Oshoala’s departure in a statement released on Thursday.

During her time with the Spanish women’s team, Oshoala made a significant impact, scoring an impressive 117 goals in 162 games. Her goal-scoring prowess places her as the fourth highest scorer in the history of Barcelona’s women’s side. Oshoala joined Barcelona in January 2019 during the winter transfer window, playing a total of 11 games and netting eight goals in the middle of the season.

In her first full season with Barcelona in 2019/20, Oshoala demonstrated her exceptional skills by scoring 30 goals in 32 games. In the subsequent 2020/21 season, she played 37 games and scored 22 goals. Continuing her impressive performance, Oshoala found the back of the net 22 times in 28 games during the 2021/22 season, surpassing the twenty-goal mark once again.

During the 2022/23 campaign, Oshoala showcased her consistency by playing 40 games and scoring an impressive 27 goals. In the current season, she has already amassed eight goals in 14 games, further cementing her reputation as the reigning CAF Women’s Player of the Year.

As Oshoala bids farewell to Barcelona, she leaves behind an impressive trophy cabinet, having won a total of 14 trophies. Among these accolades are two Champions League titles, four League titles, three Queen’s Cups, four Spanish Super Cups, and one Catalan Cup.

Barcelona’s agreement with NWSL Bay FC marks an exciting new chapter in Asisat Oshoala’s career, and fans will eagerly await her future performances in the National Women’s Soccer League.
