Tyson Fury Shifts Focus to Family Life as Heavyweight Bout Postponed
Tyson Fury, the renowned heavyweight boxer, has temporarily traded sparring for school runs following the postponement of his much-anticipated fight. Originally scheduled to face Oleksandr Usyk for the WBA, WBO, WBC, and IBF world titles in Saudi Arabia on February 17, Fury’s plans were disrupted due to a severe cut sustained during a sparring session. The accidental elbow strike from Argon Smakici forced the bout to be rescheduled for May 18. While adjusting to his regular routine, Fury eagerly awaits the opportunity to step back into the ring and resume his boxing career.
Fury directly engaged with his massive Instagram following of 6.8 million, sharing his thoughts through an Instagram story. He said “Back to reality today.
“Back to the good old Morecambe Bay weather – rain, wind, cold.
“Back to the school runs, back to real life stuff.
“I can’t wait to get back into the training camp in Saudi and absolutely smash it. Come on Tuesday, bring it!”
Over the weekend, it came to light that both Fury and Usyk would face an £8 million penalty if either of them withdraws from their highly-anticipated bout. Former world champion Carl Froch has raised doubts about Fury’s ability to achieve the required level of fitness within the three-month timeframe to confront Usyk.
Furthermore, Froch has voiced his concerns about Fury’s current form, suggesting that he may be declining in his pursuit to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis achieved the feat back in 1999.
The Cobra told talkSPORT: “He’s on the slide, he’s passed his best.
I watched his fights from when we talked about the Deontay Wilder fight, when he was throwing 20-30 feints every round, he was bouncing on his toes, he was putting combinations together, he was moving a lot.
“Now he’s slowing down, he’s throwing less feints, he’s killing the clock and he’s been dropped four times in his last 70 rounds.
“When you look at statistics and facts they do not lie and I think Tyson Fury is on the slide.”
Froch’s remarks prompted a response from Fury’s father, John, who strongly criticized the Nottingham native and even issued a challenge for a fight at Wembley Stadium.
