The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has appealed to the 27 members of the State House of Assembly who are aligned with Minister Nyesom Wike to initiate immediate impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminlayi Fubara.
During a press conference held in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Tony Okocha, the State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, expressed concerns over Governor Fubara’s alleged failure to implement the comprehensive eight-point peace agreement, which was signed in Abuja to address the political crisis in the state and had the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu.
Okocha emphasized the need for the Assembly to take decisive action, stating, “Rivers State, being a crucial and significant state, cannot afford to have an ineffective leader. We cannot tolerate such a situation. We urge the Assembly to promptly initiate impeachment proceedings against the Governor. In the absence of their immediate action, the party will invoke the relevant sections of the constitution pertaining to party discipline.”
Further updates will be provided as the situation progresses.
