The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has called on the Nigerian Super Eagles to strive for victory in their upcoming match against Libya.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Diana-Mary Nsan, Enoh emphasized the importance of not underestimating their opponents ahead of the clash in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, scheduled for Friday.

“Your strong start in the qualifiers has positioned you well to secure a spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament,” Enoh stated. He cautioned the team against complacency, as the Mediterranean Knights aim to upset expectations and secure at least a draw.

Super Eagles Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen is targeting a maximum of six points from this double-header fixture. “We have opportunities to secure our advancement, and we will do our best to seize these chances,” Eguavoen remarked.

With four points from their two previous matches, Nigeria currently leads Benin Republic by one point and is two points ahead of Rwanda. A double victory over Libya would elevate the Eagles to ten points, solidifying their position in the qualifiers.

“Make us proud, and good luck,” Enoh concluded, as the nation rallies behind the team.
