CPSC Commissioner Rich Trumka Jr. criticized Fitbit’s handling of the situation. He stated, “Health-conscious consumers who used Fitbit Ionic smartwatches to track their fitness were unaware that the devices put their safety at risk. Fitbit did not warn them, so they were left in the dark”.
