Controversial crossdresser Okuneye Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky, is currently in detention at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Alagbon, Lagos State, where he spent the night in a police cell.
A source confirmed to our correspondent that further directives regarding Okuneye’s case are pending. He was transferred to the FCID for safekeeping after being arrested by officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) while attempting to exit the country through the Seme border.
The source stated, “Bobrisky was brought to the FCID, Alagbon, around 10 p.m. on Monday. Immigration apprehended him at the Seme border and brought him for safekeeping. He was arrested on Sunday, detained overnight, and taken to the FCID around 10 p.m. on Monday. He remains at the FCID.”
Confirming Okuneye’s detention, FCID spokesperson Mayegun Aminat stated, “He is detained at FCID Alagbon. He is with us, and we are seeking a remand to keep him in custody today.”
Earlier reports indicated that Kenneth Udo, spokesperson for the NIS, described Okuneye as a person of interest in light of recent public concerns.
“In line with its commitment to border security, the Nigeria Immigration Service intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, also known as Bobrisky, at the Seme Border due to his attempt to exit the country. He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action. The Service assures the public that it will continue to conduct its responsibilities in a civil and professional manner,” Udo said.
