The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspect linked to the trafficking of teenagers aged 13 to 16. Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, announced the arrest during a press briefing in Awka, revealing that the suspect had trafficked multiple teenagers to neighboring countries.

Ikenga reported that some victims, who had been taken to Ghana, have safely returned to Nigeria. Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend other members of the trafficking ring.

The suspect’s arrest followed an increase in reports of missing teenagers in the state. Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Itam has directed police personnel to take decisive actions to tackle the issue.

“The suspect is currently being interrogated, which will aid in rescuing additional victims and tracking down more gang members,” Ikenga stated.
