Hoodlums Attack Lagos BRT Bus in Broad Daylight, Rob Passengers

LAGOS – A Lagos State Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus was attacked by suspected hoodlums in broad daylight on Wednesday, leaving passengers robbed of their belongings.

The incident occurred around the Alaba Suru area, as the bus, identified as number 240216, was traveling from the Mile 2 Terminal to Lagos Island.

A video of the attack, which began circulating on social media on Thursday, shows the hoodlums shattering the bus’s windows before robbing passengers.

In response to the incident, the Lagos State Government has deployed security officers to BRT routes across the state, starting with the Alaba Suru area where the attack occurred. The deployment is led by CSP Tayo Akerele, head of the Lagos State Task Force.

The attack has raised concerns about the safety of passengers using the BRT system, which is a vital mode of transportation in Lagos. The Lagos State Government has assured the public that it is taking steps to enhance security on BRT routes and prevent future attacks.
