Lagos, Nigeria – The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has announced the appointment of Pastor Kayode Pitan as the new pastor of the City of David Parish in Lagos.
Pitan will replace Pastor Charles Kpandei, who has been serving as the interim pastor since the suspension of the previous pastor, Idowu Iluyomade, due to unspecified allegations.
The decision to appoint Pitan was made by the church’s governing council during the recently concluded RCCG convention. Prior to his new role, Pitan served as the Pastor in Charge of the Tabernacle of David in Region 51 and also held the position of Regional Pastor.
With his extensive corporate experience, including a stint as the Managing Director and CEO of the Bank of Industry (BoI), Pitan is expected to contribute significantly to the effective management of the Trinity Tower project and the overall leadership of the City of David parish.
Pitan, who completed his graduate studies in the United States and returned to Nigeria 37 years ago, has had a successful career in banking and finance. He previously worked at Citibank before founding his own finance house, which unfortunately collapsed in 1993, leading him to deepen his Christian faith.
The appointment of Pitan marks the end of Iluyomade’s tenure at the City of David parish. Kpandei, who was temporarily assigned to the City of David, has now returned to his previous role as the Pastor in Charge of Region 11 in Lekki.
Pastor Ben Akabueze will step in as the Assistant Pastor in Charge of Region 20, which includes the City of David as its headquarters.
The RCCG leadership is confident that Pitan’s strategic expertise and strong Christian foundation will guide the City of David parish towards continued growth and success.
