Bancroft’s School Mourns the Untimely Death of Daniel Anjorin

Woodford Green, London – The Bancroft’s School community is in a state of profound shock and sorrow following the tragic death of 14-year-old British-Nigerian student Daniel Anjorin. The teenager succumbed to injuries sustained during a horrifying sword attack that occurred on Tuesday morning in Hainault, East London.

According to the United Kingdom Metropolitan Police, the assailant, armed with what appeared to be a Samurai-type sword, launched the attack as Anjorin was en route to school. The suspect, a 36-year-old man, was swiftly apprehended and remains in police custody on suspicion of murder. As of the latest update, his identity has not been disclosed.

In a heartfelt statement published on their official website, Bancroft’s School expressed their condolences and paid tribute to Anjorin’s exceptional character and academic dedication. The school described him as a true scholar who had left an indelible impact on the institution.

The harrowing incident unfolded shortly before 7 am when the alleged assailant crashed a van into a house fence, striking and subsequently stabbing a man in the neck. Subsequently, a 35-year-old man in a nearby property was also attacked, sustaining arm lacerations.

Tragically, Anjorin became the next victim of the assailant’s rampage, succumbing to his injuries. Law enforcement authorities responded promptly, arriving at the scene within 12 minutes of the initial emergency call. Despite deploying incapacitant spray and a Taser gun, the suspect proved resilient, seriously injuring two police officers, both of whom required immediate surgical intervention.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed his shock and condolences, denouncing the incident and commending the bravery of the emergency services and responding officers.

The news of the tragic loss has reverberated beyond the school and local community, with Nigerians taking to social media platforms to mourn and offer support to Anjorin’s grieving family. Messages of sympathy and prayers have poured in, emphasizing the profound impact of this devastating event.

As investigations continue, the focus remains on honoring the memory of Daniel Anjorin and supporting those affected by this senseless act of violence.
