WAEC Announces Commencement of WASSCE for School Candidates

Lagos, Nigeria – The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has officially declared that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates will commence on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, and conclude on June 24, 2024.

In a statement made by Dr. Amos Dangut, the Head of Nigeria Office, during a press conference held at the WAEC Lagos Office on Monday, it was confirmed that the council is fully prepared to conduct the examination. The WASSCE will run for a duration of seven weeks and six days.

Dr. Dangut expressed his delight as he announced the examination dates, stating, “I am pleased to inform you that WASSCE for School Candidates, 2024, will take place from Tuesday, April 30 to Monday, June 24, 2024, in Nigeria. The examination will span seven weeks and six days and will be conducted in four WAEC member countries, namely: Nigeria, Gambia, Sierra-Leone, and Liberia.”

He further emphasized the council’s readiness to conduct the WASSCE, saying, “We want to assure candidates that we are fully prepared to conduct a seamless WASSCE. We have collaborated with the Federal Ministry of Education, the State Ministries of Education, the Nigeria Police, other security agencies, and all stakeholders to fulfill our mandate of conducting credible examinations for the Nigerian Child and the general public.”

Dr. Dangut expressed gratitude to the Honourable Minister of Education, the Honourable Minister of State for Education, all State Ministries of Education, the Inspector-General of Police, and all stakeholders for their continuous support and cooperation. He concluded by reaffirming the council’s reliance on their unwavering assistance.

With the announcement made by the West African Examinations Council, candidates and stakeholders eagerly await the commencement of the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2024, with hopes of achieving academic success and progress.
