The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) delivered a heartfelt message to the aggrieved aspirants who took part in the Ondo State primary election, urging them to unite and support Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the upcoming November 16 governorship poll.
During the meeting held at the party secretariat in Abuja, he shared his personal experience of losing his first bid for the Kano governorship and expressed confidence in the future success of the aspirants.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emerged as the winner of the primary election, as announced by the Governor Ododo-led Primary Election Committee. However, the results faced challenges due to allegations of irregularities and violence in some polling units. Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, along with Olusola Oke, Folakemi Omogoroye, Olugbenga Edema, Jimi Odimayo, and Wale Akinterinwa, filed petitions contesting Aiyedatiwa’s victory and calling for the cancellation of the primary.
Addressing the aspirants, the APC National Chairman expressed gratitude for their prompt response to the meeting invitation and acknowledged the emotional distress caused by the recent primary. He emphasized the importance of unity and appealed to them to focus on the future rather than dwelling on past events. Drawing from his own experience, he highlighted the significance of patience and perseverance in political pursuits, assuring the aspirants that their success was still within reach.
The peace meeting brought together fourteen aspirants who had participated in the primary election, while the National Deputy Chairman of the APC (South West), Isaacs Kekemeke, and Akinterinwa were absent from the gathering.
