Ayogu Eze, a prominent figure and former Senate spokesperson, has sadly passed away at the age of 66. The Enugu North Senatorial District representative from 2007 to 2015 breathed his last on Thursday at an Abuja hospital, following a battle with an undisclosed illness.
During his illustrious career, Eze played a pivotal role as one of the founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party. His outstanding dedication and contributions were acknowledged when he was appointed as a federal Commissioner for Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission in May 2023, receiving unanimous confirmation from the Senate.
Eze’s impact extended beyond his political achievements. Throughout his tenure in the Senate, he served as the esteemed chairman of the Senate Committee of Works. Additionally, he played an active role as a member of several influential committees, including Constitutional Amendment, Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport, and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs.
The untimely demise of Ayogu Eze leaves a void in the political and public service spheres. His legacy as a respected statesman and his commitment to national development will be remembered by all whose lives he touched.
