The Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has issued an order for substituted service to be carried out on Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, regarding the pending DNA test application.
This development was disclosed in a statement signed by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba family’s legal team.
In the application filed by Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, the family sought an order to serve Wunmi by posting all the necessary court documents on her last-known address, as previous attempts to serve her through the sheriff had failed. The legal team, led by Emmanuel Oroko, argued that serving Wunmi through the last-known address would constitute proper service, ensuring her awareness of the ongoing legal proceedings. The Chief Magistrate granted the order, instructing that the court process be posted on Wunmi’s last known address.
The Aloba family has contested the paternity of baby Liam and filed an application before the Family Court, requesting an order for Wunmi to present herself and the baby for a DNA test at a recognized laboratory in Lagos.
In a viral video, Wunmi expressed her willingness to undergo a DNA test but claimed she had never been available for the court sheriff to serve her the necessary documents. However, Odumosu revealed that the matter has been adjourned until next month for the report of service.
When contacted, Wunmi’s lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, stated that they were not aware of any court order and would advise Wunmi to comply if they received one.
Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, leading to controversies surrounding the circumstances of his death on social media. The Lagos State Police Command subsequently formed a special investigation team to probe the singer’s death, resulting in the arrest of Naira Marley, Balogun Eletu (also known as Sam Larry), and others. The singer’s body was exhumed for an autopsy on September 21, 2023, in order to determine the cause of death.
