The controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been convicted by the Federal High Court in Lagos for his involvement in Naira abuse.
Justice Abimbola Awogboro, after carefully examining the case’s facts, reached the decision to convict him.
During the trial, Bobrisky expressed his lack of awareness regarding the law on Naira abuse in his allocutus. He informed the court about his role as a social media influencer with an impressive following of over five million individuals. However, the judge emphasized that ignorance of the law does not serve as an excuse.
Bobrisky pleaded with the court for a second chance to utilize his platform and educate his followers on the responsible use of money. He proposed creating a video on his social media page, where he would provide relevant information and guidance on the appropriate handling of money. He expressed remorse for his actions and assured the court that he would not repeat them.
Prior to the conviction, Bobrisky faced four counts of Naira abuse, as charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The self-proclaimed “Mummy of Lagos” pleaded guilty to all the charges.
