Ogun fashion designer stabbed to death during fight A fashion designer identified as Sheriff Alabi has allegedly been stabbed to death during a scuffle at Aga-Olowo in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State. Our correspondent gathered that the incident happened at about 11 pm on Saturday during a tailoring graduation party in the community. While the party was ongoing, Alabi and three of his friends, including Gbenga Mufutau, Peter Gbesu, and Samuel Bolarinwa, were said to have engaged in an argument, leading to a violent scuffle despite efforts by other people at the graduation to stop the fight from degenerating. It was learnt that while efforts to stop the fight were finally yielding results, Alabi was said to have been stabbed with a broken dish plate. The stab reportedly left some deep cuts on Alabi’s nose and upper lips, causing other graduation party attendees to rush him to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he subsequently died a day after the scuffle. Contacted for confirmation on Monday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said some operatives of the state command in the Ewekoro Area, led by Adelakun Emmanuel, took action immediately by apprehending all the suspects, including the deceased friends who were involved in the fight. She said, “The deceased was a native of Kajola Village. He had gone to Aga-Olowo for a graduation party of tailors in the area. While the party was ongoing, an argument between the deceased led them into a violent scuffle. “The deceased allegedly sustained serious injuries during the fight. He was taken to a nearby Femi Clinic in Ago-Olowo, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty. “Everyone involved in the fight has been arrested, and a preliminary investigation is underway. Upon completion, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.”

A tragic incident unfolded in Aga-Olowo, a community in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, as a fashion designer, Sheriff Alabi, lost his life after being stabbed during a scuffle.

The unfortunate event took place during a tailoring graduation party held on Saturday evening.

According to eyewitnesses, the altercation erupted around 11 pm when Alabi and three of his acquaintances, namely Gbenga Mufutau, Peter Gbesu, and Samuel Bolarinwa, engaged in a heated argument. Despite attempts by other attendees to defuse the situation, the dispute escalated into a violent confrontation.

During the commotion, Alabi suffered grave injuries inflicted by a broken dish plate. The assailant reportedly struck him, causing deep cuts on his nose and upper lips. Promptly recognizing the severity of his wounds, fellow party-goers rushed Alabi to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries a day after the altercation.

Authorities swiftly responded to the incident. Adelakun Emmanuel, leading a team of operatives from the Ewekoro Area Command, apprehended all the involved individuals, including the friends of the deceased who were implicated in the fight. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrests and assured the public that a preliminary investigation was underway.

“The deceased, a resident of Kajola Village, attended the graduation party of local tailors in Aga-Olowo,” stated Odutola. “An argument during the celebration spiraled into a violent confrontation, resulting in the severe injuries sustained by the deceased. He was rushed to Femi Clinic in Ago-Olowo, where he was pronounced dead by attending medical personnel. All those involved in the altercation have been apprehended, and a comprehensive investigation will be conducted before the case is transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.”

The community mourns the loss of Sheriff Alabi, a talented fashion designer who met a tragic end at what should have been a joyous occasion. As the investigation progresses, residents hope for justice to be served, providing solace to the grieving family and friends left behind by this senseless act of violence.
