The owner of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre, Abdulhakeem Adeeyo, has raised allegations of corruption against the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and its officials, following the denial of accreditation for his center.
Abdulhakeem claims that his CBT centre, Aatrix Innovations Ltd, was unfairly denied accreditation despite his substantial investment in its establishment. He asserts that for the past four years, both the JAMB staff in Osun State and the headquarters have failed to grant him accreditation, even after being recommended by their state advisor, Prof Aderonmu in 2022.
According to Abdulhakeem, he fulfilled all the requirements and successfully passed every test conducted by JAMB representatives at his centre. However, he alleges that certain officials condemned him for not awarding them the contract to set up the centre. Mr. Femi, in particular, claimed that it was customary for individuals establishing a JAMB CBT centre to award the contract to them, as a means of generating income.
Abdulhakeem further reveals that he paid N90,000 to the inspection representatives, as they insisted it was a customary practice.
When contacted by our correspondents, JAMB spokesperson Dr Benjamin Fabian dismissed Abdulhakeem’s allegations. He stated that while JAMB is actively seeking more centres, they cannot compromise on their established standards. According to Fabian, Abdulhakeem’s motives and lack of credibility have led to the decision not to grant him a centre. He also mentioned that Abdulhakeem has been spreading false information and causing disturbance wherever he goes.
Fabian emphasized that JAMB is open to accrediting any centre that meets the required standards and facilities. However, he made it clear that the pressure exerted by Abdulhakeem and his attempts to influence others will not affect the decision-making process. He also highlighted that there are other applicants vying for a centre and that JAMB is committed to ensuring high-quality standards across all CBT centres.
Fabian concluded by suggesting that if Abdulhakeem had invested his resources into building a suitable centre, he would have been considered for accreditation. He further stated that JAMB is actively reaching out to various states, appealing for qualified individuals to establish CBT centres, and accreditation will be granted to those who meet the necessary criteria.
