The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has cautioned officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against rigging the upcoming governorship election in Imo State, scheduled for November 11.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB warned that any attempt to manipulate the election results would be met with severe consequences.

“We warn INEC officials in Imo State to desist from any plan to rig the upcoming governorship election. We are watching them closely and we will not hesitate to take decisive action against anyone who tries to subvert the will of the people,” Powerful said.

IPOB also urged the people of Imo State to come out en masse and vote for the candidate of their choice, and to be vigilant in protecting their votes.

“The people of Imo State must be prepared to defend their votes. They must not allow anyone to steal their mandate. We must ensure that the election is free and fair, and that the outcome reflects the will of the people,” Powerful added.

IPOB’s warning comes amid growing concerns about the possibility of electoral fraud in the Imo State governorship election. In recent months, there have been reports of voter intimidation and violence in the state. There have also been allegations that some INEC officials are planning to rig the election in favor of a particular candidate.

IPOB’s threat to take action against anyone who tries to rig the election has been welcomed by many people in Imo State. They believe that IPOB is the only group that can stop the election from being rigged.

“IPOB is the only group that can save us from electoral fraud. We have no faith in INEC or the Nigerian government. We believe that IPOB will do everything it can to ensure that the election is free and fair,” said one Imo State resident.

Another resident said: “IPOB has our full support. We will not allow anyone to steal our mandate. We are ready to defend our votes at all costs.

It remains to be seen whether IPOB will be able to prevent the Imo State governorship election from being rigged. However, their warning has certainly put INEC officials on notice.
