Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to heed the cries of Nigerians amid the current economic challenges.

Tambuwal made this appeal during his visit to former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at his Abeokuta residence on Thursday.

In a statement released by Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Tambuwal emphasized the importance of not losing hope and assured that the situation would improve with time. He also had a discussion with the former President during the visit.

Expressing his concerns about the state of the nation, Tambuwal stressed the need for Nigerians, both in government and as citizens, to pray and take appropriate actions. He specifically directed his clarion call to President Tinubu, highlighting the deteriorating conditions and urging him to listen to the plight of Nigerians.

“The country is going through hard times, and things have never been this bad,” Tambuwal stated. “President Tinubu sought this position, and it is his responsibility to rally and ensure that Nigeria’s progress is prioritized by putting things in better shape.”

Tambuwal also discussed his contributions in the National Assembly, particularly regarding his constituency. He mentioned the inclusion of strategic road projects linking Zamfara and Kebbi states in the 2024 budget and highlighted upcoming bills aimed at providing affordable housing for Nigerians.

Regarding his visit to the former President, Tambuwal emphasized his long-standing connection with the Obasanjo family and stated that it has become an annual tradition for him to celebrate Obasanjo’s birthday in Abeokuta. He prayed for Obasanjo’s good health and extended wishes for more years of service to Nigeria and humanity.
