The Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, played host to a momentous gathering as the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) convened on the sidelines of the ongoing African Union General Assembly.

The focus of the meeting was to foster enhanced regional collaboration among the esteemed First Ladies.

During the gathering, chaired by the Vice President of OAFLAD and the First Lady of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mrs. Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, there was a resounding commitment to encouraging and nurturing collaboration to drive development and promote growth among member countries.

Dignitaries in attendance included distinguished First Ladies from various member countries, notably the esteemed presence of Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. A moment of silence was observed to honor the late Namibian President Hage Geingob, whose wife had served as the President of OAFLAD until his unfortunate passing on February 4, 2024.

Furthermore, the First Ladies actively participated in the opening session of the African Union General Assembly, joining heads of state from member countries in shaping the future of the continent.
