Premier League Salutes Super Eagles’ Iwobi, Aina, and Others for Epic AFCON Final Achievement

The Premier League has expressed its admiration for the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their exceptional performance in reaching the final of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). In a thrilling semi-final match against South Africa on Wednesday, Nigeria showcased their determination and skill.

Under the leadership of manager Jose Peseiro, the Super Eagles seized the initiative in the 65th minute when Victor Osimhen earned a penalty. William Troost-Ekong stepped up to the spot and confidently converted the penalty, giving Nigeria the lead.

However, South Africa displayed remarkable resilience and managed to equalize in the 90th minute through a penalty kick taken by Teboho Mokoena. With the scores level, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout to determine the winner.

In a tense and nail-biting penalty shootout at Stade Bouake in Ivory Coast, Nigeria emerged victorious with a 4-2 scoreline. This triumph secured their place in the AFCON final, where they will face the host nation, Ivory Coast, in a highly anticipated battle for the continental crown.

The Premier League joins football fans around the world in applauding the Super Eagles for their outstanding achievement and wishes them the best of luck in the upcoming final.

On Wednesday night, the premier football league of England expressed its appreciation for Nigerian players who are actively participating in the league through its official X account.

The English Premier League specifically praised Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, and Ola Aina for their active participation in the league as they started for the Nigerian national team.

“Nigeria book their place in the AFCON final! 🇳🇬.”

“Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina all featured in their semi-final win against South Africa,” Premier League wrote.

Ola Aina serves as a defender for Nottingham Forest, while Frank Onyeka plays as a defensive midfielder for Brentford. Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey are both players for Fulham. The Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national team, will face the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire at the Allassane Quattarra Stadium in Abidjan on Sunday, with the match set to kick off at 9:00 PM WAT.
