In an expression of gratitude, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has lauded the influential roles played by President Bola Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State in the victorious emergence of Ife Ehindero as the House of Representatives member-elect for the Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency.

The by-election held on Saturday saw Ehindero emerge as the winner, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

In a statement released on Monday in Akure, Tunji-Ojo emphasized the significance of allowing citizens to freely select their representatives, stating that the true essence of democracy is revealed in this process. He expressed his appreciation to Tinubu for fostering an environment conducive to the flourishing of democracy, not only within the state but also across Nigeria as a whole.

The minister further praised Ehindero, highlighting that he is not only a worthy successor but also someone who is poised to elevate the federal constituency to new heights through his capable representation. Tunji-Ojo’s previous representation of the constituency in the House of Representatives before his ministerial nomination by Tinubu adds to the continuity of effective and efficient representation that the APC party has been providing since 2019, as reported in the Guardian Newspaper.

Acknowledging the unwavering commitment of the APC national leadership, led by Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Tunji-Ojo expressed his gratitude for their unmatched stewardship. He also recognized the dedication and enthusiasm of the Ondo State APC executive committee, under the leadership of Mr. Ade Adetimehin, for steering the party to another resounding victory. As a member of the APC family, his primary objective remains the development of the federal constituency through exceptional representation, instilling confidence that those who entrusted him with this significant mandate will not be let down.

Tunji-Ojo extended his appreciation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for upholding the fundamental principles of democracy by maintaining an impartial stance throughout the electoral process. He also commended the security agencies for their commendable efforts before, during, and after the polls, which contributed to the peaceful environment in which the election was conducted.
